Yes, it’s true! The Blue Aeroplanes 12th studio album ‘Culture Gun’ is officially released on Fri 28th April 2023!

Limited copies will be available on vinyl & CD from the merch stands at the 2 forthcoming Bristol gigs.

The album is also now available to pre-order (link at the bottom)

Much delayed, mainly due to vocalist Gerard Langley being hospitalised with cancer, and then the lockdown, ‘Culture Gun’ is unsurprisingly angrier and rather more politically engaged than ‘Welcome Stranger’, with references ranging from Brexit to social dependence via Silicon Valley and the Anthropocene era. Plus, of course, more personal subject matter, all couched in the band’s characteristically elliptical style and massed guitars.

Anyone who came to the recent annual December gigs at the Fleece have already heard new tracks ‘Hips Like Cigarettes’, ‘20/20’ and ‘Waking Up In The Ghost Removal Van’, as well as the vocal contributions of Mike Youé and Bec Jevons on ‘Someone (In The Arms Of No-One)’ and ‘An Unlikely Hit Of Adoration’. A single should be available ahead of the album’s release date, and there are album launch gigs confirmed in Glasgow on 21st and London on 28th April (see the gigs page for details)
